Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | Yep, binged it. Liked it and think it should open some lines of communication between parents and their kids. I'm not sure if I agree it 'glorified' anything. Everyone reads into things differently but I sure hope it helps some people! I think some forget it isn't a true story, just very relatable. |

NO!! We are having a terrible problem with kids referencing the show and attempting suicides. It is terrible bc in their eyes it actually glorifies it bc of the attention the girl receives. We literally just had to have an assembly to talk about this show and that it was originally intended to show the "butterfly affect" and how even small actions affect everyone. Sadly, even after the talk the kids do not understand the concept. Middle school kids just can't deal with it. In the book she actually isn't dead at the end apparently and it explains things much better but the Netflix version glorifies it and it is having negative affects.
 Definitely agree awareness and communication/dialogue is a good thing.My concern is that as adults we get it but as others have stated, teens don't think/act as adults and see the bigger picture. I think that is why so many schools feel the need to adress this series.

I re-read the book and then tried to watch the show... I can't.
The book was very good. The show really didn't do it justice, IMO
I agree - the book is better than the series. |

Wont give anything away but I do feel she could have done more for herself. However in the same sense, having had a suicide in my immediate family I understand that once someones mindset is there, sometimes there is no changing it.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | The book was way better. It's on HIgh School Library shelves in our county. Has been for about 8 years.
The series won't go to a second season because there was never a second book.
If they make a second series, I won't be watching. |

Netflix is about to sign on the deals for the second season and the plot details are starting to come out. |
