I just said that very same thing to my husband. It's not like riding a bike. Of course I haven't done that for a long time either so not even sure if I can ride a bike anymore.

The first time I rode a bike after my amputation was comical to say the least. The actual getting on and getting going wasn't too bad (with help, of course). I rode for quite I while and truly enjoyed it. Until it came time to get off. I was riding someone else's bike (like a 10 speed or something, that I knew nothing about). I had my bf lined up to help me slow down/get stopped-----weelll, I came in hot and he was doing like 12 mph running trying to catch up to me to get me stopped without me falling over and landing on my head probably. He missed me on the first pass. . . . But I got turned around and made that second fly by and he caught me

Looking back it's so funny, but when it was happening, all I could think about was how to explain to my mother I broke my one good leg AND prosthesis at the same time and would be missing at least the first month of college

The mental image I just got of this.... omg! I'm glad you don't live closer to me- we would do damage!

Girl, we could be invincible

With that being said, if you ever decide you want to move- I'll come help you pack!!

In 2011 I started running barrels again after about 15yrs away from competition now I had been riding and training but not racing. Oh my gosh I thought I was going to die! It all happened so fast and I felt lost every jump. Then my horse got hurt and I went back to just riding babies well this year my little mare was ready to go and once again I thought I was going to die. I have been back running about a month and finally feeling like I know what I am doing. It just takes some time and confidence again. I wanted to quit everyday.

I just had the most amazing weekend. I was waiting for a picture so I could share because I was so excited. I will post pics and what I managed to do later but my little mare and I decided we were barrel racers .

All I can say is just hang in there,  I have been just the trainer and ground mom for 10+ years and decided to compete again. Whew I sure think I am flying at 62 years old. I just keep trying and hope I can get better.  Thankful that I have a horse that tolerates me riding like a monkey!!
