| svincent - 2013-11-03 10:24 PM MrsHound - 2013-11-03 7:38 PM I am also looking for a Grasshopper bit, so hard to find. I will not pay $150+ for one!! I got quoted $125 for a KLU bit, too much for me also since I have not tried one. I am patiently waiting for Professionals Choice to start making them again or to find one that doesn't cost over $100. I am borrowing one from a friend and really like it, sure wish I could find one to buy. The reason KLU is so expensive is because hers are all HANDMADE and the Grasshopper replica is pretty labor intensive. They make all their bits by hand from start to finish. $125 is still cheaper than $200 though. And it works just as great.
I realize they are handmade, but since I have never tried one I can't see spending that much unless I know it's going to work. :) |

| They now make a professionals choice version and just call it something different. Only $50.

I own a charmayne james grasshopper bit for my finished horse, I have been using it on my young horse I'm training and want to get another one but of course they aren't being made anymore. -I'm wondering if anybody has one for sale? - Anyone know where to find any that are still around? - Bits that are VERY VERY similar so I wouldn't make a big change for my young horse? My horse is softish mouth but is very powerful and bends nicely at the poll for me and stops on a dime for this bit, if any of you could help me out tha'd be great!! -Thanks!!
PC is now making something very similar with an assortment of shank lengths and gag/non-gag action. They are called the "Futurity" and "Derby" barrel racing bits. www.profchoice.com |
