We were in OKC in December for my sons' 16th birthday (yes, during the *(^$#!% ice storm). We only were there two days, but packed a lot in, thanks to great recommendations from folks on here.

For great food with jeans, go to Trappers! Just off Meridian on Reno (right by Teners!). Wow...it was awesome. They have everything from steak to po'boys to gator to mahi mahi! The decor is fun, the staff was incredible, and the food was so wonderful.

To do...gotta see The Stockyards and Bricktown. We didn't eat at Bricktown or go in many places, as it was late at night after an NBA game, but it was nice to walk around the canals. We did a stop at the memorial (the museum was closed) and saw the outdoor part. If you want something a little "different"..go to the Museum of Osteology. They have skeletons there for everything from pre-historic man to current animals. If you have any kids with you, it is very kid friendly - lots of hands on stuff. And very reasonable priced.

Daughter and I were there a few years ago for AQHA World, and if there is anything going on at the show grounds, that would be neat to see. The facilities are really impressive.

I have to say...not a fan of "cities", but I absolutely love OKC. So easy to get around in, something for everyone, and everyone was super friendly. We will be going back for sure (if son has his way and I find a money tree we will go back for a playoff game). Enjoy!

When we go to the BBR we always go to this little mexican restaraunt on Reno.  It's east of the of the fairgrounds in the downtown area.  It's called La Luna Mexican Cafe.  The food and margarita's are great.   I go to either celebrate or drown my sorrows.  LOL!

Vast inside the Deven Tower is upscale with an amazing view of downtown! For a good steak and good price then Cimarron Steak House is the place to go, its just a few blocks North of Reno on Meridian. What type of shopping do you like? Of course the Stockyards is a must see! The stockyards also has a wonderful store called Stockyard Mercantile and people pay booth rent, you never know what you will see. If your are into antiques/clean flea market then you need to go out to Bethany to the Rink Gallery. Bricktown has different things to do, if you are a cheap skate, you would purchase your boat taxi tickets then go down to Bass Pro to park, otherwise you will pay atleast 5 bucks to park. If you are into history, then you need to checkout the Oklahoma History Center, its located NE of the Capital. The displays are of the Indian Tribes of Oklahoma-its a tear jerker, oil production, Army, the large steamboat that they just recovered a few months back in an Oklahoma River, Oklahoma 100 year old farms, education and African American way of life. It is very interesting to see how we as a state have changed for the better! If your up for some calf fries then the place to eat is the Morrison Cafe, which is an hour North of OKC.

Have a safe and fun trip!

Is Applewoods still open? I haven't been there in probably 10 years, but used to go every year and OMG the apple fritters they bring to your table, and the hot, homemade yeast rolls..... yummm... and the steaks were fabulous.

And yes to shopping in Stockyards. There was a "blemish" type store across from Langstons that sold every type of riding jean you could want, but super cheap because they might have a small flaw somewhere on the pants.

Cattleman's has been featured on the food network several times, just because it's so good. You can go for lunch as well as dinner.

I do miss showing in OKC. :(

The Boulevard in Edmond is probably the best place to eat in the OKC area.  It is pricey but worth it.   JR's in OK in the Oil Center is very good too.  It is kinda old school, where all the big oil barons came in the 80's.  I would definelty give the Boulevard a try, but do call for reservations.   We went to a Thunder Game last night and went to Red Prime Steakhouse and it was good, but it is kinda industrial.  Just kind of weird but good food, fancy steaks, pretty pricey.  250 for 4 with no alcohol.

Applewoods is no longer open- hasnt been for years. But it was owned by the folks that own Cattlemans Steakhouse.
