I've been running for awhile now (over 3 years -5ks- and walking/running 8-10 years -to give our dog exercise and to keep in shape for riding). I recommend Brooks, Asics, Saucony, and Mizuno. I personally love mizuno. They fit me. It might be in my head, but they feel less heavy and bulky while remaining stable. Also, they have a smooth feel from the "wave plate" design. I've ran in the other brands and like them, but prefer mizuno for the reasons I stated before. It is probably most beneficial to know what you need. As is stability/balance/cushioning/neutral/etc. and if you pronate or supinate. I would not go with Nike, UA, Adidas, etc. They are usually less stable and better for short quick runs or track work.
I have a small collection of running shoes. Can you enable my addiction and post pictures of what you choose lol? |

I hadn't thought of that. With my history of old injuries I think I need a lil more then the average person. I'll have to take a loot at insoles too....wonder if we should be using new insoles when shoes wear out instead of mowing the grass with them?
You shouldn't be mowing the lawn or any kind of walking in shoes that are worn out. I can't walk barefoot in my house or I pay dearly for it. |

That will help prolong the shoe ... BUT ... if you are having issues with knees, joints, and shin splints, it only will work for so long.
To put it in real terms ... changing out your insoles is like a reset on horse shoes. Will they work, yes, if the actual shoe isn't too worn out.
However, be careful, I like a softer, squishier (technical term lol) heel with lots of give when I run. Thus, the foam will eventually hit terminal life. When that happens, things start to hurt again (like my knee that is almost all metal).

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I probably won't bother with anything until I get to a local store. The only two in our area are over an hour away so it will be a few weeks. All the sneakers I have now will work just fine for the workouts I do but definitely need something for when I go back to running outside. I'll have to post a photo of my sneaker addiction. Hubby should have his new brooks here today. |
