Mainer-racer - 2016-01-05 8:06 AM Those feeding Platinum CJ - do you also do another joint additive? My horses get Polyglycan every 4 weeks - I am on the Wellness now thinking the CJ is just over doing it, but looking for opinions.

I don't give anything else, as it just gets too dang expensive. I'm usually not one that gives joint supplements orally, but I made an exception with this one and I'm sure glad I did.

I was just asking because a friend said his daughters horse was on it and she got extremely hot couldn't ride her enough to calm her down so he took her off and in a week was back to normal

I have a theory on that - the supplement may be working so well the horse has a rush of energy that he isn't used to. If you give them several weeks he might return to normal. This has happened to me after sinus surgery. Without the infection to fight my body had extra energy and I felt really, really good for about a month, to the point I was annoying people with my extra energy. However I a month later i still felt good but my energy leveled out and I wasn't looking for something to do at 11 at night.

strawfly special - 2016-01-04 10:00 PM Will it make a horse a little hotter than normal ?

It did make one of my horses hotter than normal.  I asked a vet and he said it could do that because it has so many vitamins in it.  I haven't had any others have issues.

They probably get hot because they are getting the nutrition they need and feel good!  My horse used to be so lazy and wouldn't EVER rear or buck in turnout.  Now that I injected his SI and addressed his soreness he plays ALL the time in turnout.  It's nice to see him feeling so good!!!

She gets the best nutrition and plays all the time in the pasture we rope off her, day work off her, and rodeo off her, but I have to either whip her right before I go in or breeze her right before I run to get her on the muscle and I hate having to do that. So this was a suggestion I thought was worth checking in to.

Normal maint is 1-2 scoops a day. The day I would make a run, my mare got 3-4 scoops in her morning feed. She would fire stronger, hotter a bit. It really is a great supplement.

My three just get their CJ. They're pleasure horses, not barrel racers, but I can tell a world of difference since starting it.
