I don't understand how this is any different then other liquid breathing supplement... Like wind aid, air power... ect. It's just herbs and extracts. To me it's just like a herbal cough drop when I'm sick. I can see how it can clear mucus after giving it like a cough drop for possiblely an hour or so but to stop a horse from bleeding or allergies.... I'd like to see the science. I'm so burnt out on supplements...
My understanding is that many bleeders bleed because of underlying issues. Those are the horses that will experience success with this. My mare is not a traditional bleeder - she bleeds due to her allergies, as per BAL results. It's working for her, hasn't bled since starting. But, I would agree - a traditional bleeder would likely not experience any success with Equipulmin alone. Thats my take anyway.
I guess my point is seasonal like pollen yes but hay dust mold allergies it's only a cover up for a few hours after it's dosed. If it helps relieve symptoms great but it doesn't stop the damage that occurs from allergies. The only way to stop allergies from causing havoc is to take the horse away form the source.... Like taking them off of hay.

Also- which Cur-Ost are y'all using?
1 scoop Plus and 1 scoop Revive for my mare. I did Total with Revive for a bit but decided to try Plus and she is doing even better.

Location: Iowa | I am bringing this thread back up because I have some more questions if anyone has some more knowledge or experience! My horse has allergies which is why I am interested in this product. I hate over supplementing and I would like to one just use one thing. I currently use In The Zone by Animal Element for a run to help calm the mind and coat the stomach. According to some descriptions on Equipulmin it also helps calm and coat…does anyone have a testimonial that it may help with nervousness and ulcers? I found this online but would like some truth first before I buy :) Thanks! The benefits of using EQUIPULMIN: (1) STOPS LUNG BLEEDING, (2) HEALS STOMACH ULCERS, (3) CONTROLS AND RELEIVES ALLERGIES, (4) STRENGTHENS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM, (5) OXYGENATES THE BLOOD, (6) RELAXES. (7) REMOVES MUCUS & STOPS COUGHING
SAVINGS ON DRUG COSTS: When EquiPulmin is used these drugs are not necessary & should NOT BE USED. VENTILPULMIN --- SPUTALYSINE --- CEMEDIDENE --- GASTREGUARD ---- TAGAMET --- ANTIBIOTICS The use of these any of these drugs with EquiPulmin only reduces its effectiveness. DOSAGES: MUCUS & BREATHING DISORDER: 60 cc - 3 times a day for 10 days / then 60 cc - twice a day. This can be decreased when the horse's shows signs of real improvement. BAD BLEEDERS: 60 to 120 cc - 3 times a day for 14 days / then 60 cc - twice a day. Pre-race 120 cc 30 to 60 minutes before race. PRE-RACE: 120 cc - 30 to 60 minutes before race time.

I don't use Equipulmin, but have discussed with several friends who do and why they see the changes that they see. First, in order to answer your question about ulcers, yes, it should provide some relief with ulcer type symptoms. Why? Due to the herbs used in the blend, specfically marshmallow. It is a cooling/soothing/moisturizing herb.
There other herbs in the blend that are heating and drying, as well, which is where the improvement comes in as far as respiratory support. The question is, how much of each is in the blend? There may be a place where that is listed, but I haven't seen it.
I think in order to make good decisions on what product is best for you and your program, it will be beneficial to learn what these different herbs do and at what levels they are most effective. That is one thing I did on the journey that eventually led me to the Cur-OST products was to educate myself on different herbs and ingredients, what they are, why they are used, and how they are intended to assist. For example, my friends and I have discussed the potassiom sorbate, which is the preservative used in the mix and whether or not that could be harmful long term or if given daily. Probably not, but when you begin reading about the effects of it, it's worth talking about.
The first thing I would encourage you to do for your horse is to remove all processed feed and grain from his diet. Get him on the best forage you can find, and use a whole grain like a whole oat or barley at less than 2 pounds per feeding, and less if you can get by with it. The oats used as a mixer, rather than a meal, for whatever product you choose to feed, if you choose to use anything. I truly believe that by simplifying the diet and removing the processed feed, that is a huge step in the right direction. Then top that with the product you find has the ingredients to best support the issues present beyond that.

Perfect thank you! I should have clarified he does not have ulcers currently I just want to prevent them. In the zone paste has done great for me but I don't want to give numerous pre-race supplements. And I really want something to help his seasonal allergies and occasional cough.
