I just gave my older mare Quest Plus and someone told me to give her Quest 10 days later...she has lost some weight this winter but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. I can call my vet and ask but wanted your thoughts. She had Ivermectin I think on Thanksgiving.

Nooo, definitely not. Moxidectin is stored in the fat layer and is active for 81 days. It's also one that you never want to overdose with. Quest Plus is extremely effective and long lasting. If you have doubts that she's clean, do an FEC.

Definitely do not do that. As stated the moxidectin is stored in fat and released over the course of 84 days for a slow kill. This is why you want to dose by exact weight and do not dose underweight horses with no fat reserves. If you give regular quest again you are doubling the dosage of moxidectin which could cause issues. Typically you wait 3-4 months after dosing with Quest before deworming again. That's if needed. It's recommended to do a FEC but that will not show encysted small strongyles or tapes. If your horse is healthy and has good fecal counts you can deworm with Quest Plus in spring and Equimax in fall without having to deworm between. As always discuss with your vet but this is what I have found to be best personally.
