Hi!
I'm going to compete in Barrel racing this summer and I want my horse to be in shape!
What are some exercices that you guys do?

Thanks a lot for your answers :)

I think by your title people are assuming exercise for humans not horses lol
I ride (weather permitting) 5 days a week do some days of long trotting and loping in the field, some sprint work occasionally and hill work. Usually will spend one day of flexing all the body parts to keep them flexible. Arena work one day doing different exercises to get them set back on their hind end. My horse is solid so I do not work on the pattern but if your horse isnt solid still do not drill the pattern every day.
No matter what you do keep it fun. You can do reining work, dressage work, trail ride. Same as going to the gym as a person variety is good.

do a really good warmup. walk both ways in circles like 5 mintues each way then short trot for a a couple minutes and walk a lap each way. then extend trot a lot and for a awhile. then walk him down. then lope for cardio. extend trotting will keep them stretched out and in shape. but loping is for cardio. do a lot of backing up to strengthen his hocks. side pass. do roll backs. and every once in a while breeze him somewhere. stretch your horse as well. always make sure he is eating and drinking properly as well:)
