| It's amazing how quickly our thoughts can change our moods.
We have the ability to make ourselves happy or sad by what we CHOOSE to think. The Bible says we must be satisfied with the consequences of our words, whether they are good or evil.
Proverbs 18:20 from the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips is satisfied. It also tells us " Death and life are in the power of the tongue , and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it". V21 Our words begin with our thoughts , so the same principle that applies to our mouth also applies to our minds.
We need to be satisfied with the consequences of our thoughts because they hold the power of contentment and discontentment , of joy and sadness.
God has given us the fruit of self control. Galatians 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such things there is no law. Which means we do not have to allow our thoughts to be out of control, but we can we can be intentional in our thinking. God has been given us our thoughts, and we must be responsible to make those choices carefully. In the realm of the mind, exercising self control and making wise choices is call " on purpose thinking."
God makes it clear in His Word that thinks f is directly connected to quality of life.
Set your mind and keep it set: " setting your mind" is one of the most greatest and most beneficial to learn. Once you set your mind on things above, be from in your decision to agree with God's ways of living no matter who or what may try to convince you that your are wrong. The reason setting your mind and keeping it set is so important is that there's really not much hope of being able to resist temptation if you don't make up your mind ahead of time concerning what will do when you are tempted. The Bible says, Abraham was " fully assured" concerning the promise of God. Romans 4:20,21 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had promised. In other word, he set his mind and was able to keep it set during temptation. You WILL be tempted : that is just a fact of life.
Renew your mind: Romans 12:2 " Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. An renewed mind is one that is never changed after receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. The spirit is regenerated but the mind remains the same.this condition furnished fertile ground for the devil to operate. It is this reason that Christians often gave a reputation as being hypocritical. They say they believe something but their BEHAVIOR does not match their so called beliefs.
"Gird up" your mind: Peter 1:13 instructs us to " gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
When the Bible says " gird up the loins" of our minds. I think it means to get our minds off of everything that would cause us to stumble as we run the race God has set before us. It may also refer to concentrating on the things at hand rather than allowing our thoughts to wander all over the place. God has a good plan for each of us, but we must WALK THE PATH that leads us to it. Focus and concentration are both real challenges in our world today. We have a great deal of importation coming at us at all times and to keep
Our minds on what OUR PURPOSE is REQUIRES great determination and even training.
"Girding up" your mind is another way of saying " stay focused on what you need to do"
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Have a VERY BLESSED Friday and weekend.
Father God, guide me today to do all things that will bring glory and honor to You Amen
