Wondering everyones thoughts on what a mare has to accomplish to become Embryo transfer worthy? Its obviously a costly process and if the mare either cant carry a foal her own or is still competing it can be a challenging decision. Or am I blowing it out of proportion and its really not a big deal?

It's not terribly costly. I think it's a great option when you have a nice mare that you dont want to drop out of competition for over a year. You have to think...if the mare consistently picks up checks during that year, that eliminates the extra cost of the ET. I dont think you should have to have a NFR mare to consider an embryo transfer. I had considered doing it with a nice 2D mare just to keep her running barrels. Some mare owners do sell embryos for a pretty penny. But if you have some extra money, that would be a nice way to get an own daughter out of something great.
