Rodeo Out West

I've just started getting into the rodeo scene out on the East coast, but am trying to move out west. I know this means longer drives to competitions, but I'd like to go somewhere that's not completely in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestions?

RE: Rodeo Out West
There are so many factors and variables here, it is tough to know where to start.
Chiefly, will rodeoing be your career, or will you have a full time job? Deciding your career and tailoring your competing around that is a good first place to start. There are absolutely so many places in the west that aren't "in the middle of nowhere" and can provide both a career and livelihood for you.
I think it really depends on what level you are planning on competing at. If you're looking for weekly jackpots and year round riding, Texas, California and Arizona. If you want to get your WPRA card and fill your permit, you will be traveling across the country anyway, so it really depends on your level, and where you want to call home.
I would start by figuring out what area of the west you really want to live in, and once again, so many variables there. State taxes, the housing market, weather, cost of living, etc. Making a game plan and budget, and researching locations is a great way to narrow down your search.
