mtcanchazer - 2015-05-16 8:15 PM Oh wow!  We went with a superfecta, but before we knew the mud was so bad. Wow, congrats on the win!

I'm hoping we will have a Triple Crown winner this year.

I am hoping so to!! It has been a long time since I thought someone could actually do it. A.P. is the first one in a long time who I think can actually do it. Not to take anything away from the Cinderella horses who have been in this position over the last 10+ years or so. Smarty Jones, Funnycide, California Chrome, ect. All fun, and fun stories and fun to watch, but this horse....this horse is different. This horse is Class. He has the pedigree that says he just might, The tactical speed, multi dimensional, and he has the connections.

Ya know... I didn't know what happened until a few hours ago. (Sunday night) I was walking out of Wal_Mart and I paused at the newspaper stand to see if it had some info on the race.... Well I saw something... a picture taken right after the horses went under the wire...

The first thing I noticed was all the puddles of water on the track....
The second thing I saw was all the mud on the horses in the background....
The last thing I noticed as I started to laugh and walk on out the door, was the horse in front didn't HAVE any mud on him....

I think we have a legitimate shot this year...

Yep, he gunned it out of the gate and never relinquished the lead.

If I owned Dortmund he would have been moved to another trainer immediately after the Derby.   His only job is to help win AP the Triple Crown.  Sucks for the owner and for the betting public.

I really think Dortmund hated the mud, to me it seemed he never leveled out. but Im not a race horse trainer LOL. When I saw AP take off like demons were after him, I really didnt think he was going finish the way he did, that was for sure.

We had a birthday party going on for a friend of ours and, of course, we all came in to watch the Preakness, and as soon as he jumped out in front, the birthday boy started saying, "Oh, there's no way he'll win....when they go to the front first like that, they always give it up in the home stretch...yadda, yadda..." I said, "Tell that to Secretariat, who led the whole way in the Belmont and won by 30 lengths...." It has been done and can be again. Sure enough, he led the whole way. I think the jockey was smart to get him out in front and keep him from getting hit with the mud. JMO If it rains for the Belmont (and there's a very good chance it will), we may sure have a Triple Crown winner. He seems to like the mud. It will be fun to speculate, anyway. :)

Would not surprise me if that horse ends up in another barn.  You are not the only person who feels that way and I'm not just talking about me.

Keep in mind that horses with stingy feet love the mud so I tend to wonder about some mudders.  I think AP can be beat.  Just depends on the day.  They are all beatable.  I just can't jump on the bandwagon.  I don't care for Baffert.  Never did.  Not since he could maybe still make weight so that's a long time ago.  I just wish it was another barn with better connections.

I didn't like Baffert for many years. However I watched a lot of his interviews and coverage on Derby Day and he really seems to have become a lot more humble. I suddenly liked him. I'm rooting for AP, but you are right, they can all be beat.

I've never met Mister Baffert... The only impression I have of him is from watching 50 to 1.... (not a very good impression)... But you can't deny he is very talented...
