LOL,, , that did cross my mind, so still a bit nervous to hear back from the OP, but I'm thinking this girl is young, so maybe not a crabby person.

Cold hosing it is good. The splint dont look bad at all from what I can see in the picture, but you're horses knee dont look right to me, looks really puffy, maybe its just the angle of the picture.

Just an FYI, the horse in my avatar never had a splint until I started rodeoing on him, and I NEVER rode him w/o splint boots. He popped splints while I was rodeoing on him (as a 7 yr old) and they were HUGE. They never bothered him, but he was pretty pain tolerant, too, so maybe they did and he just didn't show it. But splint boots didn't keep HIM from popping splints. I haven't used splint boots since 2005 when running and have not had a single horse pop a splint....but I'm not rodeoing on hard ground anymore, either. I think hard ground causes them more than interfering. JMO

So if theyre not showing signs of pain, did you just keep running yours? I've heard they need to rest but I have so many rodeos coming up I don't want to rest him unless I absolutely have to!
I think when he refused the 1st barrel, it may have just been him being naughty, he just gets that way sometimes
