| It is CRAZY what people will tell you!!
Mine have all been when I wasn't looking. Seriously, my most current buy was my filly last year and she was an accident that I stumbled on at sale that I attended with a friend. I had actually left my wallet at home because I was so convinced I wasn't going to buy anything. well that backfired and the SO brought me my wallet :) |

 Can You Hear Me Now?
Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | It took me 6 months to find my first girl; it was hardcore searching and shopping. Like 3 hours a night sometimes. I was picky. The others just accumulated, I wasn't really shopping.

Location: Minnesota | My mare that I bought last summer took me about 6 months to find. I actually saw her months before but after I went to see her my motor in my car blew up and there went all my horse money. The seller actually contacted me about 3 months later and said they still had her for sale(I couldn't find the ad and assumed she sold) and I went a few days later and got her. I was amazed she didn't sell but as they say, the rest is history.
Just take your time and "that" horse will come around. |

Location: NE Oklahoma | It really depends on what you are looking for how long it's going to take. I've been helping a friend of mine look for the last few months and haven't hardly found anything to even show her but she has really strict requirements on what she's looking for.
I have one for sale that I thought would have been snatched up right away but he's still with me and it's been a few weeks since I listed him. |

| I've never officially been 'looking' when I found the horses I've bought. One time I went shopping for a specific horse and never found one that fit the bill. |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I've only ever searched 2x in my life. Spent a few months and many many miles driving to look and try horses and I ended buying one that was being boarded where I went to ride. The 2nd was Kate and I wanted a project....got on Craigslist and was the first horse I looked at and took her home. All the others just happened lol |

| I'm not sure how long it took my parents to find my first pony. I know it took a LONG time to find my 2nd pony. Months, though, not years.
My 1st horse was actually my mom's love. She had wanted that horse since she first saw her, and when she came up for sale, we couldn't beat feet fast enough to get her.
My barrel horse was actually bought from a barrel horse trader. He did know what he had and when we called and told him what we wanted, he had 4 picked out for me to try. Nate was the 2nd one I rode. Just luck I guess.
My newest barrel horse fell into my lap when I got nosy with a friend. I saw he was for sale and asked about him. She knew I'd take good care of him and use him and gave him to me! I wasn't even officially looking, wanting, or needing another horse! |

I have been trying to find a 3-4-5yr old gelding that is already broke to ride. They must be correct and what I refer to as typey. Soft kind eye, good mind and move well and be able to pass a vet exam. I haunt several sites daily, been to a few tracks and have made several calls checking possible sources.
I cannot believe it has been this hard to find something, but it sure has. I like those that are interactive, not those that have that "I hate life" attitude when you approach them.
I take my time since my intention is to KEEP and not sell, therefore I want that warm fuzzy feeling about them.
This is by far the longest it has ever taken me to find one, but its been years since I have shopped.

| I looked for a few months before I found my guy. He was actually never listed for sale - heard about him through our farrier - otherwise I think he would have been snatched up. Have to spread the word through friends that you are looking, horse world is small. Someone has to have something out there :) |

I'm in the camp though too that my best horses are when I wasn't looking! When it was time to actively shop a couple time I was lucky enough that horses I had long admired then came on the market.

Agreed. When we go looking, it seems we end up buying the wrong horse!! The last horse I bought, I saw her marketed and just fell in love with her built, pedigree and PRICE. Next day we headed to go see her and well, we put a deposit on her and went back the following week to get her. I am not in the market anymore since I have so many colts, but I have seen a few horses, that if I was buying, I'd go buy it LOL |
