Location: never in the right place | I have 1 that I won, it doesn't fit anything and rides like a brick, so it sits in my foyer on a saddle rack and mostly gets jackets thrown on it.

| As a person that has never won a saddle... I will tell you that I would keep them all LOL!
I keep everything I have ever won, including the most hideous rug purse, (hunter green and pepto pink??).
But I did have a friend that sold the saddles and hung her fenders on the wall. That may be what I do when I become so amazing I just have no idea what to do with all of my prizes.  |

Location: SK | I've won one and it will never leave my possession. The horse I won it on passed away a couple months later. It fit him perfect but wouldn't have fit me. It will be on display always. I know lots of people who have won ALOT and keep them all even if they aren't used and I know of people who have won ALOT and sell most of them. I think personally it's saddening that people sell because as a sponsor you paid to have your name on it for that event and if it's sold it can seem like they don't appreciate it. I do understand why some get sold but that's just my personal opinion on them :) |

Location: The edge of no where | I sell things............ We have a small house and no space, so I've got pictures...but the saddles are gone. If you've got the room to display them tastefully, it's fun to hang onto them. I've always thought trophy/theater rooms were cool. I don't hang on to much of anything tho, I know I'm weird that way. |

Location: Midwest Iowa | As someone that sells saddles that are consigned to me, trophy saddles are the HARDEST to sell....and I understand why! I personally would not want to run in a saddle that said "winner of whatever" and it was not me doing the winning.
If I can get a saddle won, I would sure keep it. For those that have not won one yet, it's a cherished prize to obtain! Keep riding hard for your/our dreams! |

| I keep mine in the living room where I can pet it whenever I walk past. I still feel incredibly lucky to own and ride the mare that won it for me, and the time and place that I won it was very, very special to me. I think that all trophy saddles should be respected for the hard work and effort that went into winning one, and I think it's sad when I see one for sale. |

I won one and kept it. It is in my living room. The saddle I ride in is a trophy saddle that I bought - CHEAP because of that but it's a Tod Slone and probably the best built saddle I even owned. I don't have a problem riding someone else's trophy but I'm cheap that way! |

Location: Eastern OH but my heart is in WV | I just buy mine off of people who sell their's, then I use them with pride becuase that is the only way I will ever have one. LOL!!!!!
Seriously though, I really did buy a really nice one that works on my daughter's horse well. I got it at half the cost, I would of had to pay for it other wise and I am just honest with people when they ask. |

Location: Midwest Iowa | That does make sense if you find a great deal on a throphy saddle. I was looking from a sellers eye, they have asked me to sell at top dollar cause of the brand. I get that, but then again there is the other side to it with the winning marking on there. If a person was going to buy a trophy saddle at top dollar why not just buy a new saddle from the company....man o man!
None the less, each is there own. I understand selling cause of money needs and things. And as we all age in numbers and wisdom, our practices will change as well.

Location: Bandera, TX | I have a few treasures in my saddle house but quite frankly I don't normally like the ride of trophy saddles. I have "loaned" many out. My Ft Smith and a few rodeo saddle are falling apart in the saddle house so I made up my mind a few years back to let those that needed a saddle to come and try-take and ride if it helps them out.
I love to see the gals using them. It sparks a memory better than me going into the saddle house and seeing those saddles falling apart with age and neglect. |

| I had two saddle makers tell me that a lot of the trophy saddles are not as well made as others. Has anyone else heard that? |

Location: west of East Texas | I won bunches as a kid. I kept the first few because I really needed them. After that I sold them just as quick as I could as that was my 'allowance'. I haven't sold any of my kid's but that's because they are using all of them but the very first one. I have won a couple as an adult and they were sold. My only regret was not having good pictures to remember them by. |

| I am a little surprised at how some people responded. I promise you, I'm not bragging. I have 3, all roping saddles. I use them all. Saw a quote once by a famous author. I can't remember exactly how it goes, but something like, "I would rather have it dull and a knicked by wear, than tarnishing in a sheath". That's how I feel about them. About 10 years ago, I lost everything is ever owned in a natural disaster. I look at things differently now. I'd rather get the use out of something, just look at it. Someday (in the not too distant future) I want be able to do the things I'd like. I can hang them on the wall then. |
