I AGREE! If you do not have one, ridden in one, maybe you can't know about one. Mine fits all our horses. Its nice, reminds me a lot of my Shilo, Cecil Phillips

A friend of mine has one and loves it. I spoke to him once earlier this year and he was so knowledgeable and explained a lot of what I was missing with saddle fit. I had a saddle in mind that might work from what I recalled and bought one used. If it hadn't worked, I would have bought one from him. It fits but his knowledge helped me figure out what I was missing!!!

I have been riding in a Robbie Phillips for the last 6 years and I LOVE IT! I actually just purchased my second one last month in Buckeye from Robbie personally. He is awesome to work with and took the time to make sure that my saddle fit my horse exactly the way that it should. He even saddled her up and insisted I rode around and that it felt good to me too. :)These saddles are HAND MADE and not mass produced! Robbie takes extreme pride in the quality of his work as anyone would be if they had their name on a product! He would be happy to answer any questions personally I’m sure if you gave him a call.

I had my mare fitted at The Patriot and talked with Robbie himself for a long time. His saddles are not mass produced. In fact, He only puts out about 5 saddles a week. Hence the 3+ month waiting line. I really really like how they are made and how they sit. Several of my friends own them and love them.

That being said... if anyone has a lead on a 14.5" hard seat for sale please let me know! :) Not sure I can/want to wait 3 months lol

Southernyankee - 2017-03-30 12:03 PM Looking for a new saddle. What are your opinions on the Robbie Phillips barrel saddles?

They're just like every other barrel saddle out there. Manufactured by the same company that everyone else uses.
No resell value. Hard to sell, harder to resell.

I'd spend my money on something more well known. It'll be the exact saddle with a different name and most likely a better tree.
Ā (Think NRS, Teskey, Corriente, etc.) Most manufactured saddles have a competitor series with low quality materials, a middle series with better quality leather and a saddle line that is usually endorsed by someone famous (Patrick Smith, Trevor Brazil, etc.) that are higher quality materials.Ā

You get wha toyu pay for, but I would pay for something more well known and easier to get rid of if it doesn't fit.Ā

Irun where did you get this information from?

Maybe because she says they are manufactured by the same company as every other saddle.  Yet, they are made by hand in Arkansas, unless people who bought them from Robbie don't know what they are talking about.   And, she is the one who put she hates closed minded people in her profile.  Not anyone else.

Oh I understand what your saying but sometimes we all get the wrong information on things but it happens, I have been misinformed myself on some things on here and I will go looking to see what I can find out about things myself, lol.... Just wanted to say Tess is a really sweet girl and you seem to be too, just sometimes we can get a little crossways over things

I'm currently riding in a Tami, I like it alot but not crazy about it

when we were in Vegas I took the opportunity to sit and talk to as many saddle makers as I could

I think I sat in about 20 saddles, not to mention all the other ones I sat in at home!

I fell in love with the Robbie Phillips! I had a big chat with him, he was very easy to talk to!! I have one on order currently! I cant wait to get it! I went with the tree he recommended for me! He is very knowledgeable! I should have my saddle by may! they are defiantly not factory made!

Im sooo excited! I even custom ordered a higher seat rise so I stay on my pockets!

The angles of the bars... I have 2 of the Wides and 1 Regular... the wides fit the horses that are round backed, no withers... I absolutely love them!!!

I spoke to Robbie and had my horse fitted when we were in South Dakota, he explained the difference and the saddle that fit my mare did so perfectly and she is a hard mare to fit. I ordered one and I cannot wait for it to get here. When I sat in it I felt like your favorite old chair, the stirrups hung perfectly balanced and you could get your feet forward .

I won one as a trophy March of 2019. I ordered it in April after he sent me a few bare trees to try on my horse. It took till about June-July to get here, but it was definitely worth the wait. He was super helpful with working with me on which tree fit my horse the best based on pictures and videos that I texted him of each of them on his back. I REALLY love riding in my Robbie. I was a little worried because I really love my Pozzi, so I didnt know how much I'd like something different, but I had nothing to be worried about. As a trophy saddle, I thought he was extremely fair price-wise on the upgrades that I chose to get on mine. I got a 13.5 hard seat with a pencil roll and tooled patches on the skirt and it only cost me $90 to add those upgrades.  I def agree that they dont put your legs too far back. I naturally tend to ride with my legs a little farther back, so I do struggle with that sometimes, but I think this saddle actually helps me keep my legs out in front of me a bit better than a lot of other saddles.

I know who makes the saddles for robbie. Robbie claims he has a custom tree, but he doesnt touch anything other than that. Saddles such as Jeff smith/double j have higher quality leather. But they are NOT made by the same person as corientte. Same leather as the teskeys saddles though. The saddles arent made by a "company." They're all handmade in tx. They are not made by him in Arkansas, maybe the tree, but that's all.

I would love to try one. I'm kind of out of the barrel racing game and looking to get back into it. I'm actually looking for one where the stirrups hang a bit further back. After riding, reining, pleasure, and hunt seat, I'm not always the biggest fan of the forward hung fenders. How do these fit colts/what is the best tree?
