How here is a few pictures of the whole Dan, now we can see his face, lol.. Such a handsome fellaΒ Β
And I see apples, lol..Β

In the picture with the water tank, he's 37, and the barn alley he was 35. As you can see, the tongue is a constant fixture OUTSIDE his mouth!!

When I was looking for a horse, I went to some close friends who own cutting horses; I knew they would help me find THE RIGHT horse for me. Dan was owned by a couple in the town my friends lived in; he was the wife's horse. When she was diagnosed with brain cancer and realized she couldn't ride anymore, they decided to sell Dan. (They allowed my friends to keep him at their house--I went and rode and did all the "unique" things around him that I require in a horse--mount from above them, crutches around at all times, when I get on I sit in the saddle and pick my right leg up over their heads, etc. He never bobbled anything I asked of him.) When I went to pay them, Mrs Pullin wasn't there---her husband gave me Dan's winter blanket, said she wanted him to have it and not be cold but that she couldn't watch me leave with it knowing he wasn't coming back. . . . She gave me a priceless gift, and I owe her as well as Dan to take good care of him. I keep her updated ever so often about how he's doing. I'm blessed by every horse God has given me, but if I hadn't started with Dan, I don't think I'd have all the others. . .

Thank y'all for the kind words (and help from Mr Win and Miss Kathie)---it means a lot for knowledgeable horse people to tell me that

What are you feeding him ?

AM-he gets 6 pounds of Purina Sr Active, 3 cups rice bran, 2 cups beet pulp, 1 scoop Forco, and 2 scoops Platinum CJ.

PM-he gets 6 pounds Active, 3 cups rice bran, 3/4 cup beet pulp, and 1 scoop Forco.

Other than the Forco added in April and rice bran over a year ago, the other products have been his diet for years.

So how much RG are you giving?

I think that this particular horse is not on Renew Gold. We discussed the whole program and did not want to change a very long time diet that, while perhaps not perfect, had been working very well in the past to keep this great old man going for a long time. Moving to FORCO first was the plan, with further assessment if needed. That did the trick, further changes could wait. While RG works great on these senior horses, I don't like to change a lot at one time for horses this age. This guy is a great story, and I don't need to feed them all.

Shes not feeding RG to this horse it was all about the Forco that she started him on that helped make a difference in him..

And this sums this gentleman up in a nutshell---he helped me with tweaks to Dan's diet but didn't tell me I had to try HIS product. . . . What a truly nice man.

Chandler's mom your pictures and story give me hope, we have a 28 yr old that I've had for 25 years and a 27 yr old pony that we have been having issues with. I'm definitely going to have to check in to the Forco because we have been battling trying to keep weight on the pony.
And yes those old ones really do steal our hearts. I don't know what I would do without mine.

Y'all are making me feel wonderful with all the positive things being said. I kinda feel validated, because sometimes I still feel like that 12 year old little girl begging for a horse but knows not one thing about them. I just lurked on this site for a long time before I posted anything because I was intimidated by all of you who knew so much; I just didn't feel like I could add anything meaningful. So I say "thank you" for making me feel like it's ok for me to be here

It's sooo worth it to me! And I'll also say about Miss Kathie (NeverTooOld)---she was upfront with me and told me that if I didn't see a change in X number of days, then it probably wasn't going to help. So neither she nor Mr Win tried to sell me any magic potion. Very rare in today's world.
