Legging up/breezing your horse

Just would like to see how everyone else starts legging up their horses.
I live on 300 acres so I have been long trotting the pastures, and I throw in some loping/cantering. I've been doing it a little longer everyday. I started New Years Eve. I didn't ride yesterday or the day before cause of -30
(or more
) temps.
Next question: How often and how long do you breeze your horse?

We have a track here but it's pretty deep so I don't breeze on the track a lot. I do lots of trail riding and up/down hills to build stamina and the hindquarters. Here it has been 80 degrees during the day and 30 at night so I have to be sure to give electrolytes. If I do breeze them its only for a quarter of a mile or I slow lope one of the trails around here. The vet told me that long trotting my teenaged horse was actually detrimental to her joints and to keep her collected and lope instead. I only trot to get her loose before a work-out.

I heard long trotting too much is bad on joints as well. It makes sense. Same repetitive motion on the joints. Just like human runners usually get problems with their knees later in life. I mix it all up on trail. I try not to work too much in the ring. My horse is a teen so I save my circles for the races
(unless there is something i need to fix at home
)
