I thought I read something about this before but I can't find it. I've never had to give my horse this much time off so I'm not really sure what to do. He's been off since September 22nd when I got hurt, and the first shoot of the season is March 15th. I figured I'd just start with a lot of walking and gradually introduce long trotting, but I'm OCD and I was hoping to find a schedule with a breakdown of how long to do each exercise and what to change each week, etc. Any suggestions?

I don't give my horses any "time off" in the winter since, cold temperatures often dictate days off...I ride all winter...

I think I read somewhere it is 1 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 1 mile lope, and then to cool off: 1 mile jog and 1 mile walk. I start out with just 1 mile walking and when they can comfortably complete all 5 miles they are in shape. I have a pasture track that is 1/2 mile around so I just keep up until we can go 10 times around easily.
