From the trailer? And, how bad of a horse-owner would I be if I pulled out the divider? I just have a 2H and two giants to haul this year. They're squished, and my paint always ends up with a silver behind.

I don't know how to prevent it but I don't think you would be a bad horse owner to pull out the dividers. I used to have a 4 horse trailer and we pulled out the dividers and hauled 5 nose to tail stock style. Nobody ever got hurt or fought.

I use a scrim sheet. It has holes in it so it's breathable but keeps my silver horse free from a silver booty!
