So we did x rays. He has bone spurs in both hocks. Started on previcox.

His right front knee the bone is bruised so that got a hopefully one time only injection.

How have you treated bone spurs in the hocks?

He is 8 and a 1D horse when he feels good.

My vet didn't mention fusing, does this only help if the spur is in a certain area of the hock? She will be back out in 2 weeks to recheck him and I will ask her then, I would rather have a permanent fix than just injections and daily previcox, but I guess we will see. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The lower hocks fuse. Ask her which hock joint.

Had one with them. I did not do anything as he had many other issues that made those a non issue. But the vet did mention that if the spur was his only problem they could go in and remove it and he would be good to go. I would take exrays to a clinic that can do that sort of thing and discuss with them.

My understanding is all bone spurs are bad, and can be lasered off with fusion.

My first horse his problem was when he went to turn to the left the bone spur would catch on the ligament, he only ever had one bad run, went straight to the vet fused him, vet said he lasered the spur off, never had another problem. Horse went from the bottom to the top of the 1d practically overnight

Edited to say mine were in the lower joints.
