What is the starch percentage in this feed? A friends mare just started tying up yesterday and she says she has been feeding her the recommended amount of this feed. Could this feed be a culprit?

I have seen it listed as 28. The Strategy Healthy Edge is lower (21 maybe?) but keep in mind that while the NCS level is important, the amount being fed is also important. You gotta look at the whole picture. There are lots of factors in tying up. Has the horse been tested/diagnosed with PSSM?

Whoa quite a bit! No she hasn't had her tested that I know of but definitely needs to.

I have a purina pamphlet that has the NSC levels . The strategy is 24 % and the strategy healthy edge is 17%. The healthy edge is a great feed, it's the way to go with a tying up horse over regular strategy .
