When you use these bits, do you use a hobble on the bottom to connect the rein rings to keep the bit from flipping up? I've seen some with strings on them and some without, just curious!

We don't use a bit hobble on ours and haven't had them flip up...

I have one that is loosely hobble and one that isn't hobble. But not because the shank flips up. I've never had that happen.

I was actually just talking to Dave about this the other day and he told me to add a hobble if I want some outside rein pressure. It will engage the outside shank once the hobble tightens. So if you have horse that needs a little help from the outside it would be a good idea to add a hobble to your bit.
I have never had issues with my Elliott bits flipping.
