So I'm pretty dang new to trying to find a bit that works for my horse. I'm just getting back into horses after many years off and need some advice.

So the previous owner told me my mare doesn't like a shank or a normal snaffle. She's been riding her in the bit I linked below, and when I test rode her she moved wonderfully! However she was being rode English with it and not doing anything with barrels. So I'm wondering if it's unrealistic to think I would be able to run her in this bit? Or what other one should I try?

I'm currently riding her in a chain bit, but she doesn't do well in it either. I don't have any other bits, so I'm pretty limited in what I can try without buying.

Location: Central Texas		Personally, I would not change bits until seeing how she progresses with the one she likes.  A lot of horses run in a D-ring or O-ring.  When you start picking up speed, her responses may change, and if they do, then you will have a better idea of what she needs. 
Maybe you can borrow different bits to see what she thinks.  Good luck.

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas		First I would have her teeth checked to make sure her teeth are good befor I decided on a different bit, lots of times when a horse dont like a certain bit in their mouth is that it could be bugging them because of a loose cap are a hook..How old is this horse? And I would just ride her in the bit that the pervious owner had her in since you said that she did real good in it, why change bits..

Location: Texas		I see no reason why you couldn't run barrels in this bit. Cross that bridge when she progresses and then see how she is doing.
