FLITASTIC - 2016-05-11 8:12 PM Yesterday I picked up 2 bottles of the 300mg ranitidine pills from my vet. 250 count bottles. Very reasonably priced. Same as ONE tube of gastro guard. I'm going to use these instead for pre race use. How many pills are you dosing each time of the 300 mg?
Vet said 10 pills 3,000 mg 2x daily. Or can be given up to 3x daily for ulcer treatment. SHe even said I could give 10 pills 1x a day for a long as I wanted for maintenance. I am hoping I don't have to go that route. |

I give 1/2 cup in the PM. Some people feed 1 cup per day so either way I feel is fine. I just see in a lot of supplements for relief of ulcers you see Aloe Vera in the ingredients. I buy t Wal-Mart $6.50 a gallon and it last for a long time. He's a picky eater so he doesn't notice a big difference. I see now they have Berry flavored Aloe Juice, too chicken to give it to him! LOL! I am a freak about maintaining him, and I too have to maintain him for life to prevent ulcers. I give alfafa pellets scoop in am and pm. This combo has worked for him, good luck! |

Location: Weatherford, Texas | I have treated a ton of horses with just the cheap omeprazole from walmart. One pill twice a day. (Their body absorbs different so you don't need 100000 pills to work). You will notice a difference in about 7-10 days. I treat for a month or so and then take them off and watch them.
Really anxious horses I would pretty much keep them on once a day while hauling hard. |

Horses need 2.2 grams of omeprazole to effectively treat and cure ulcers. You would need something like 30 walmart pills 2x a day to reach that dosage. One pill 2x a day would be like taking as aspirin for a migraine. It might help a little but not going to be effective JMHO. With ulcerguard you see almost immediate results. Less than 24 hours usually. Maybe thats why it takes 7-10 days to see results at the dosage you use.

I have tried many ulcer supps over the years succeed was the best I had used until this equi-sure. I hope this helps I know how frustrating ulcers are--- you can look on fb for pro earth and theres a lot of people who have posts about it This! Did your horse have a mane that was flipped? Once I treated with this protocol I noticed my horse felt better and his mane all laid on the same side. I backed off and his mane is flipping again. Not sure if it's his mineral balance or the stomach happy on the Equi-Sure. My two year olds and a OTT QH I'm starting all get it before saddling. I notice a comfortable ride for them and me.
I've not run any test but the makers of the product state that you have an increase in pH. The product has colloidal silver in it as well. I understand the confusion on silver if you do a search. If you look into the newer research you see promise of using silver in some PT's.
I've only begun to use it. However, every time I've shared it with someone they ended up getting a bottle for themselves. It works on my young horses and my older more nervous horses. I love the way it stimulates appitite and gets them to drink while on the road.
I have a nasty mare that just doesn't like to be hauled, I've used it twice to the vet and her attitude is much better.
I come from a racetrack back ground and I will mikeshake a horse every so often via baking soda PO, well last time I did it I pulled labs and had some of my lytes off. Makes me wonder... So, when I amp it up for my next race at the end of the month I'm going to pull labs and see where this horse sits.
Our calves look awesome on the product. I can't wait to put them on the scale. We're talking about penning again just to give the momma's a dose and might as well do the bulls that are midway thru breeding season.
I've not scoped my horse in a long while (Oct) but I believe he came back to me from the pool with ulcers. Looked scruffy and after I put him on the equi-sure he turned around.

I used the Abler granules on my futurity horse last year. Did not really see any change. She also stopped eating the granules after about a week and I had to put them in a syringe with applesauce and dose her orally. I switched to Equine RX Solutions (http://equinerxsolutions.com) and noticed a change in my horses within a few days. I now use it when hauling and pre-race. I'm a skeptic of the majority of horse supplements and treatments out there, and I can honestly say there is a noticeable difference between the days I run with the suspension, and the days I don't dose. |
