I have a friend that is interested in buying a seasoned pro barrel horse. Realizing its going to be $100K +  where does one go exactly.  I dont see those horses on the BHW ?

Every time I see an ad for a 1D / pro caliber horse that says "Private Treaty" I always assume they're in that price range, lol.

I'd assume you would go directly to a top trainer in your area instead of just looking for an ad, tho. Ask around, and I'm sure you can get some names of where to start.

I assume this too - which is why I NEVER even look at those ads.

There are brokers known for consigning high end horses when sellers don't want to deal with tire kickers and are willing to pay the commission to not have to. Also, start asking and making offers on horses that are winning everything around your area if it's tough competition see if the owners will sell. *Some* well known "trainers" are known for selling a $25,000 horse for $75,000 (some brokers too) so watch yourself when deciding who you deal with. Make sure there are reputable stats on the horse that go with that price tag. They are out there. Now, if she's looking for one that's already been to the NFR, chances are it's gonna cost more than the $100k range unless they're a bit older. Good luck.
