I have an interview on Wednesday for a position in my same company, but better position.  It's for a Fleet Logistics Coordinator....I'd primarily be directing our drivers to other branches  to deliver and pick up cars.  I want this position pretty bad because it would finally get me out of  customer service....but also matches my skill set and I've always been more car savvy than people savvy.  My manager thinks I'm more than qualified, and I think that I have the most experience out of the candidates, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Can you guys just share interview tips?  I mean, I know the dos and dont's and basics but I just need to get focused and determined!!

let me just throw some stuff out there for you.  I interview often like 3 last week and 4 this week..   I will just tell you some of my thoughts.  Dress for the job.  don't over dress or underdress.  I like an interviewee to look me in the eyes.  I like them to be assertive and answer my questions but don't go on and on and get off subject.  I know you won't but I don't like to hear complaints about any other jobs.  Tell them why you would be good for the job.  the skills I need for people I hire are cash handling skills and good customer service.  I like when they tell me off the hip that they have all the skills they need.  Don't know more than me about the position even if you do don't tell me that.  I like when they tell me how willing they are to learn, train etc...

I like when the interviewee asks me a question or so at the end of the interview like when will you be hiring someone.  Or how soon will the position be filled.

You might already know but know the skills required for the job your applying for and tell them you looked into it...etc...

I'm just brain storming for you............

good luck!!

A hand written Thank You note on some nice stationary.  Thank them for their time, outline again why you think you would be a great fit, etc.

Good luck.

Research the entire job description.

Apply your skills to the job description, and how this would be a fit.

Problem solving skills, think of a scenario or research what previous employees had to solve, then brainstorm how you would solve similar situations.

Communication skills, focus on the positives how your current job helps has prepared you for the future job.

Those are all the examples I can think of.

From what I have heard employers want the potential employees to do research, show initiative, ambitious about the position you are applying for.

Also watch your word usage in the interview, even pause before you speak, don't say um, like, etc no slang terms.

Sit with proper posture, keep your posture open and welcoming, not closed and cold.

If there are more then one interviewer make sure you don't just make eye contact with one, try and maintain eye contact with each for the equal amount of time.

Good luck
