Aiding the gelding during rehab...
I'm sure most of yall have picked up on his story by now, but he tore his DDFT and after 4 months started rehabbing a week and a half ago at the swimming facility. When I get him home to start riding him, what kinds of products would yall use after/during the rides to make sure his tendon has the best support and recovery after the exercise? Such as any poultices, wraps, BOT, PHT etc. It's such an awkward place so I'm not sure that a simple polo wrap will do too much for him...

I wouldn't ride him in anything, you need to let that tendon have full extension and release. Maybe some bell boots to prevent over reach, if needed, but don't wrap or use medince boots during rehab. Using poultice or linaments before and after are up to you and your preference.

I personally have been using BOT and PHT wraps. My vet doesn't want me using support boots during riding because he wants the tendon to be able to stretch and not be restricted at all. I would only use them if we start barrel racing again, but not for general exercise.
At the beginning of his rehab before I started riding, I used the BOT wraps every single day to help aid in his healing. Now I'll use them or the PHT wraps after a ride to help prevent/ease soreness. I know there are some really good poultices out there, it's just easier for me to use the wraps. I don't have a rhyme or reason for choosing one over the other, I just like to alternate them.
If we get back to barrel racing, I will most likely use BOT before riding to help his legs get warmed up, and then PHT afterward to ease any pain or discomfort he may have.
Some people are very concerned with the heat of BOT, but it's very soothing and has helped my gelding tremendously. I've used them in 100 degree weather with no adverse reactions.

I was thinking about getting the BOT bell boots for him to wear after we ride to help with any soreness, etc. in that area. I like the concept of the BOT better than PHT anyways. But that is good to know to not wrap during regular exercise, even though the specific area that is torn is right behind the navicular bone so i wouldnt be able to do much support to that exact area anyways...

I agree with no wraps while riding... It makes the tendons grow stronger by being able to extend and release I believe...
