What I was watching the WPRA Finals webcast last week a commercial kept coming up for these Ortho Equine saddle pads that you can have inserts in them. Seems like this is a fairly new product and doesn't have too many reviews but I'm certainly interested. Has anyone seen, rode, bought, or even touched on of these saddle pads before?

They're not new. I bought one 5 or 6 years ago and was not a fan. I just really like my 5 stars better.

I saw them at WAco. They are an attractive pad but I like 100 percent wool pad. For the money they looked decent but I will spend the extra to get a one inch or 3/4 inch wool pad.

I have one and I really like it. I also have a 5-Star, and imo, they are a completely different type of pad and not really comparable. The Ortho Equine pad is a thick, heavy pad. I like it on my old horses that are losing topline and on my colt when I use my wider saddle. It's too much pad for some uses, for others it's perfect.
I bought mine used a couple of years ago. The quality is great.

eta: the Ortho Equine is 100% wool top, the bottom of mine is what they refer to as "chamois", which seems a little bit like foam once it's sweaty/dirty. I use a liner sometimes, which fits easily b/c of the split design.
