I don't know how to post a picture but I have a mare with SEVERE side bone that I am keeping sound. It's all about keeping inflammation out. PM if you want I can send you some info.

It's a good idea to keep bell boots on them at all times to prevent them from stepping on themselves or whacking their foot accidently- those hits really make the sidebones flare up. Other than that, I had a gelding with severe sidebone on both fronts and he stayed sound with no issues- other than he whacked himself once and was lame for three days.

My vet had my mare shod in steel shoes instead of aluminums and keep her on low dose bute powder to keep out any inflammation. Then she was put on Previcox and has been great with no issues.

Ive talked to several people that had horses with sidebones, they were lame, then they eventually did an MRI to discover a collateral ligament injury. Has anyone had experience such as this?
