I have an older wool pad that is my favorite to ride in, but its had so many years of sweat and crud accumulate on the underside of it, that it's gotten hard. Whats the best way to break up the dirt and sweat? Pressure washer?

First I take a shop vac and vacuum as much as the loose hair and dirt it will get then I hang mine by the gullet on the fence then hose it off and get it as clean as I can. Then I take some Castile soap and a scrub brush and scrub away trying to get it as clean as possible followed by another long rinse until the water runs clear. You could soak it in the soapy water too if need be! Castillo soap is amazing I use it to clean everything!!!

If its got that much crud accumulated on it I would wash it off with a water hose let it set for awhile so all the dirt and sweat will loosen up, then I would hose it off again and use a soft brush to rub on it to get the junk off I dont use soap just water, and I would just keep hosing it off untill its pretty clean, What brand of pad is it? I dont think I would use a pressure washer on a wool pad, it may break the fibers apart on it.
I dont use soap at all.

Thank you. I cant remember the brand off the top of my head. Its a really nice pad. My husband had it for years, and its the perfect width for my saddle/mare so I love riding in it, but I dont think its been cleaned in many years if at all. I'll try that and see how it does. lol With all the rain we're getting, maybe I'll just set it upside down outside.
