For those of you who have the 2-4 horse stall shedrow barns. What kind of foundation did you set your up on? We're really considering getting one, but want to make sure we set it up to last a while until we can get a bigger barn built down the road.

One of these type of barns.

We have a 3 stall shedrow from BarnMaster that we bought used. We had to have it torn down and moved to our property. We ended up having dirt work done so it was level, had crushed limestone put in the stalls to go under the mats, and had a curb foundation laid for the edge so the barn wouldn't shift or settle. Overall we have been really happy we spent the money to have it done right.

Thats what dad was thinking about doing. We know it needs to be level and we were thinking of a curb foundation to keep it in place and stabalize it when its windy. Your shedrow didn't have flooring built in correct? It was open floored and you added gravel and stall matts?

Correct, we have the outside two stalls set up as horse stalls with the limestone and rubber mats, but the middle stall is used for feed and tack, so we actually had concrete put in the middle stall. We didn't want the horses standing on concrete and we were told the limestone is best to help with drainage.

Think ahead to the future and look at what is typically called AG Equipment work sheds.. which are half the peak line of a barn. 30x60x10 free span is a good one to look at. Which would give you five 12x12 spaces with or work a swing gate setup with five 12x24 that can turn into 12x12 by swinging a gate or adding a panel ..

Now on the future side of things ... when you want to enlarge it and turn it into a peaked barn ... just add another one by facing the new one to the old one and walla you have a peaked roof barn that you can reconfigure with alley way or pack your stalls and have a small working area or great hay-trailer-equipment storage area.. it would make the barn 60x60 without spending money twice .. just add on to what you already have.

I can't explain it as well as you watching a shedrow building being built with one slope to the roof ... as I explained above ... later on you can add another one by just facing it to the old one and doubling barn area and just reconfigure stalls and alleyways or you can go with a raised alley way and add another shed row to it ... Have fun ..
