I called about a horse for sale
(not on this site
). A ranch/trail gelding. Girl seems completely honest however, whoever she bought the horse from, I wonder.... she said the guy she bought the horse from said, he didn't get his normal farrier to put shoes on the horse she bought. The farrier cut too much frog and bruised the horse, and he was lame/sore on it. He had the shoes put on right before she picked up the horse.
The frog grew back fine but now, ocassionally, the horse favors that foot. He never quits the rider, and isn't sore after riding for days in a row. She's owned him for 2 years, and Its totally intermittent. Could this issue be permant damage from a severe frog trim?? Can that happen? or would I be safe to assume its the start of navicular, laminitis etc.... An x ray would be in order for sure if I even go look or ride the horse, fyi :

No telling, could be a ringbone or who knows? I wouldn't even entertain looking at the horse. Sorry.

Who knows what kind of damage could've been done, without extensive vet care, you wouldn't know. I honestly wouldn't bother with him. Probably cost more for the vet care than the purchase price of the horse.
