Hay Rack Water Tank

I finally finally got a new to me trailer
(!!!
) and it has an open hay rack on it. Anybody use one of those hay rack water tanks? How do you like it? Does the water get hot in the summer? I'm curious how it holds up under glaring Florida sun all day every day.

I have one and like it. I used to have just a hay rack and would fill it up the day I would leave and would use all the water within 24-36 hours. It would be Luke warm. Now I have a hay pod so it's sheltered from the sun.

You can shelter it from the direct sun with a tarp that has a reflective silver side out. That helps a bit to keep the water cooler. Keep in mind that the sun will degrade the plastic water tank over time. We would drain and take ours down when not in use.

I have one in my open hay rack. I love it and use it regularly. I put fresh water in each trip. I can use it for the horses or if I need extra water for the LQ

Also, keep in mind, water can freeze in a water tank in the hayrack ... Stupid PSA I know.. but you would be surprised how many times I am asked that.
