What is the barrel racing/horse industry like in Fl and where is it thriving? I'm getting close to graduating college and just throwing around some ideas for future plans! I would love to stay in the panhandle area due to proximity to family and friends and of course the beaches!

I'm in the panhandle of Florida and you can go within 100 miles and find a saddle club, jackpot, or NBHA show just about every weekend.

There's lots of barrel racing everywhere in this state. If you're in the Panhandle you might have to drive farther
(simply because there's less people up here
) but there's always something most every weekend, sometimes both days. It slows down in the dead heat of summer but you can usually scare up something if you're really addicted.

I would say, Ocala area is pretty active. I'm south of there and have no problem getting to a show, but Ocala has racing horses and other eventing also so just more horses in general.
