Just looking for experiences with this. I am considering it for a mare I ride that has very strong heat cycles. She has a "trail" all down her legs when cycling and will pee and wink even when I ride her.. TIA

I would say definitely try it and if it doesn't help you can use an injectable Regumate
(called Altrenogest
) which should definitely do the trick. I went straight to the Altrenogest and love it. The Depo is a lot cheaper from what I hear but I am way to scared to take her off the Altrenogest and try it when the Altrenogest has been a life saver!

Although it helped my mare who has a strong heat cycle it didn't completely knock her out.

My mare is on it and has been since January. Our winter here was weak and she came in heat in December and I said that's ENOUGH! She is much better, she still "comes in" but she's not peeing on EVERYTHING and is a lot easier to handle and ride. There was a stud that apparently lives close to me that got loose a week ago and teased her through the fence for a while and she did pee on him and back up to the fence, but I rinsed it off and later that day she was back to "normal".

With all the horrible side effects I have heard about in humans. I am not sure I would take the chance with my mares... JMO...
