When we face "giants" of our own
With God all things are possible

The story of David and Goliath, is a good one to illustrate how we can rely on God for protection when we face" giants" of our own. David didnt have to be coerced, guilted, or drafted into fighting Goliath...he enthusiastically volunteered! He knew the dangers, but he didn't obsess about how inadequate he was or dwell on his lack of resources. Instead, he faced the reality of the situation head-on and made a confident choice to engage the enemy.
Samuel 17:32-37 tells the beginning of the story.
Don't worry about the Philistine, David told Saul, I"ll go fight him!"
David decision wasn't a leap of blind faith, he didnt naively throw himself in harm's way hoping with fingers crossed that God might possibly, somehow show up. His decision was a clear-minded choice to trust in God who had protected him in the past could be relied on to protect him in the present.
We can never understand the life of faith seen in scripture and in serious Christian living unless we drop the idea of faith as a " blind leap". And understand that faith is commitment to action, often beyond our natural abilities.
The foundation of David's confidence is " his spiritual résumé'' and " knowledge of God and God's ways". David's decisive response and confident outlook stood in stark contact to that of King Saul and the Isralelites, whose fears had immobilized them for forty days straight and left them " terrified and deeply shaken" 1 Samuel 17:11
In order to feel safe and protected, human beings need such assurances as predictability, stability, and freedom from fear.
One God's insights from David and Saul's story is that we ALWAYS have a choice. No matter how big a threat we face, we have the freedom to choose our response. We can choose to be shaped by our fears, or we can choose to be shaped by our faith.
David was the only one who understood a life-altering truth: No matter how big the giant you face right now. God is bigger. He is the protecting One.
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Father God, guide me today to do all things that bring glory and honor to You Amen
have a BLESSED day.
