Some Kind of Trouble Posts: 4430	I have an older gelding with tender feet (always kept shod). It seems like about this time of the year (hot, extremely dry, and has been being ridden a lot) he is occasionally sore on the front end. Never lame, just a hesitation you can feel. I've been wanting to try pads on his fronts for a while, any recommendations on what kind to try? I haven't talked to my farrier yet, just doing a little research on my own.

Elite Veteran Posts: 999 Location: Sunny So Cal	My horse really benefited from pads. She was literally a new horse. It felt like she was floating. Her padding was filled with silicon. This takes 5 hours to set though. I have my other one in equipak. But see what your farrier wants to do.

Not Afraid to Work Posts: 4717	My gelding gets corrective shoes and is in a wedge pad but my pads have a hallow middle which I like. I think it keeps the hoof healthier imo. I don't know if that would help with tender feet or not tho

Married to a Louie Lover Posts: 3303	I don't on a regular basis but I have during springs where we had a really rough freeze/thaw cycle and the ground in our turnouts got rough. Helped a ton, could tell and almost immediate difference in the padded vs non padded horses and overall comfort. We used equipak, wouldn't hesitate to do it again. We did need to shorten the trim cycle by about a week, the padding makes them a little more prone to throw shoes we found if let go the same time as w/o padding.
