Thinking about relocating to Texas. I have 13 years in the 5th largest district in the country. It's hard for me to comprehend how there are so many districts in Texas lol. Do you have to look at every district for job openings? Are all districts part of the same retirement system? Who do you think I would ask about credit for years served? Only considering Weatherford/Stephenville area at the time. Not planning on going to any big city.

Texas is divided into twenty Educational Service Centers (ESCs), with Weatherford and Stephenville being located in Region 11. Most districts post their open positions on the ESC websites. Most districts will base your pay on years of experience regardless of location. All public school teachers in the state are in the same retirement system, TRS. There are many options for retirement including withdrawing what you have in your current retirement and using the money to "buy" years of experience in the Texas Teacher retirement system.

Texas Education Agency or the school district.

Yes we are independent districts when it benefits the state and state institutions when if benefits them.....anyway, you will get credit for years of service as far as pay scale goes, but you will have to buy your years to get credit in TRS. As a general rule, cities pay more than rural schools.

Here is another link that will help
