So a sweet 6 is going to be a gag and a junior cowhorse a curb, right? Which is going to have less poll action? Which would you use in what situation?

Also, what is your favorite book on bitting?

A SWEET 6 has a little gag is not very different from a snaffle. Yes, a Jr Cowhorse is a curb bit. I would say that the Sweet 6 has more poll action. We don't keep ours in a Sweet 6 long. Big fan of the Jr Cowhorse. I do have a 4 year old that is a turning machine and will probably stay in the Sweet 6 because she does not take much.

Don't mean to steal the thread, but which mouthpiece do you prefer on the Jr. Cowhorse?

I have one with every mouthpiece but like the three piece best. Not a big fan of chain mouth bits but I seems my two fillies like a lot of tongue pressure. I think each has its purpose.

Mouth pieces are such an individual thing. Mare is going to need a smooth sweet iron or copper mouth, possibly a 3 piece. Not twisted, since she had a tendency to suck behind the bit when I first started riding her and not a stainless steel since she clamps her mouth shut instead of willingly taking the bit like she does with her brass bit.
