I have always just stuck my small panels in my stud stall without a problem, but I will be hauling more horses this coming college rodeo season and need my stud stall for more important things. I do not have a hay pod, but I have seen several people attach them to the side of their trailers. What do you use to hold them up without scratching your trailer while hauling long hours? All suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The people I know who hang them on the side of the trailer have brackets to hang them from usually. I've seen pieces of indoor/outdoor carpet used to protect the trailer. Good ratchet straps are a necessity if you're hanging them on the side.

Other options...
Do you have a front or mid tack you could put them in? Or is the box of your pickup long enough you could lay them down in there?

I have a LQ but the slide in comes in too far to put much in there. I don't have a problem with hauling them in the bed or stud stall, but most our college rodeos are about 6 hours away for each one so fitting as many people and horses in one rig is always the main goals. Just trying to see everyones ideas or what they use, but I think an 'L' bracket bolted in would be a great idea!!

Bolted brackets on the side to hang them and used bungie ties to keep them in place.

Take your trailer to a shop and have them build you a panel rack on top.  It's cheaper in the long run than a ticket for exceeding the width.
