What do you change in your routine or equipment when running in an indoor VS running outside??

I try to double my loping the first month, until they get into big pen shape.  I also up my bit for the first couple runs.   That wide open freedom makes them feel a tad rebellious. :)

I have a gelding that gets really free outside but inside he loses some of that fire. I'm thinking about using a different bit for inside to try to encourage him be more free.

I do this and it works for mine. I back my bit way down if I'm in a little pen or if they've been really mellow all week at home.
