I need some suggestions on how to ride a very setty horse. You can not pick up at all going to the first and ne runs 9-0, how can u condition yourself to sit there and not pick up

One of the hardest things to do is .... nothing!  I have always rode horses that were hustle style and my job was to push / hustle.  I now have one that I love and she is also a hustle style...however the more I ride aggressively the harder she wants to set (and to early).  You just have to get the confidence to "sit there" and let her work.  The quieter I ride and let her work the faster she runs.  It isn't easy, but can be done!  Good luck

I read an article a while back by Charmayne and she suggested looking at the spot where you want the horse to go instead of at the barrel. Your spot will be a little past the barrel. I took that advice and it was helpful for my hiney dragger!

I was told this as well and it works.

For myself, I force myself to ride two handed all the way to the barrel and I do not let go of that outside rein until we're ready to set and turn.

I have a bad habit of that inside hand creeping up and over the  mane (which will make you crash that much worse) but if I keep both hands on the reins, then I don't do it.

Just have to make yourself ride a step farther than you think you need.

And then be ready for a leg lift, LOL.
