RoaniePonie11 - 2017-04-07 3:51 PM I am glad we have a president that stands for this country. I am glad we will now be the great nation we once were. I feel for the innocent people that are paying the price. I think that leader over there needs to be hung. I think the Russians are crazy for defending them. All of this being said, I write this in tears. My boyfriend who has only been deployed for a month is over there. He is stationed just hours from the air base that was attacked. If they wanted to retaliate.... I am terrified. He gets in a plane and flies over that country regularly (now much more often). If we could please pray for the men and women involved. This could go so many ways.

Sending prayers to all our men and women serving this country. May God keep them all safe.

Nothing new. Obama did nothing but verbally warn for 8 years,  Trump sent a massage, but it will also fail. Syria is and has been fighting a civil war, the innocent will continue to die. Bashar al-Assad if killed will be replaced by someone worse.
AND.....Stop watching crap TV. ;-)

^^^  Exactly..... Using sarin gas and chemical war by Al-Assad is not a "new" thing....he has been gassing their people since 2012 AND Trump ranted on for months how Obama should NOT get involved or bomb Syria. That it would be a terrible mistake. Of course, that was when he was sucking up to Russia. Then he campaigned on keeping our noses out of their business and taking care of our own....Unfortunately, most can't see beyond the "hoopla" about how ballsy he is....BUT, he has managed to put our "boots on the ground" men and women there IN Syria in grave danger.

I'll tell you one thing. I'd hate to be sitting across the table from Trump at a high stakes poker game. It would be very hard to look at his face and his outward mannerisms and get an idea about what's really going on between his ears. Trump has said that he doesn't want to say what he's going to do when it comes to our enemies, and he wants them to know he's unpredictable. What he did the other day served a bigger purpose than simply retribution for Assad's use of sarin gas to exterminate innocent men, women, and children. He reminded the world what can happen if you poke a sleeping tiger one too many times. He put the world on notice that there's a new sheriff in town, and this sheriff isn't afraid to bite back when provoked, unlike his predecessor. He basically picked up the phone and told Russia they had an hour to get the hell out of town, because hell is about to rain down on them. That phone call sent the Russians scattering. I hope and I believe that Trump wants to give his best shot at settling things down in the Middle East. He himself has said it's a huge mess and he would like to be involved in a lasting peace agreement and finally bring Israel and the Palestinians to the negotiating table. He said it's nearly impossible, but he wants to give it a shot. What have we been witnessing these last few weeks? The Saudis, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Egypt, and Jordan have all been singing his praises and they already are showing our president some respect. What he did sent a message to the world, and it just goes to show that the adage "peace through strength" is not without merit.
Don't kid yourselves.....Putin received a message loud and clear, and so did the president of China. While they were sitting at the dinner table, Trump gave the go ahead to turn that Syrian airbase into a parking lot with the flip of a switch. We've been poked and pushed around for too long. Trump sees the colossal mess in the Middle East and he knows that we have to be involved somehow, if it's ever going to be resolved. He wants to force those countries to step up and take charge of their own part of the world. We aren't going to squander trillions only to see things continue. That $59 million spanking just might turn out to be a very smart expenditure. Just like we had to fight for our own freedom and liberty some 240 years ago, they are ultimately going to have to do the same if they are ever going to make it out of that perpetual hell in which they live.

Basically, Trump just let a huge fart in the Middle East......and the world took notice.

Just a reminder, these Syrian people are the ones we are trying to keep out. Just sayin.....

If we can make their country safe then they have no reason to be refugees. I just watched an interview this morning with a man from Syria who survived a chemical attack in 2013. The CNN host asked about the travel ban and what he thought about the air strikes and he said this is what the country needs. He said syrians want to stay in their country that they do not want to be refugees, they just need help to make it a safe place. He was praising trump for his help. Let's just say the CNN host didn't look to please because not exactly what she wanted to hear.

There is compassion for these people in the hearts of all Americans but there are different ways to help other than taking them all in as refugees.

The Middle East is a hell hole and no matter what anyone does...the civil wars will continue on. It's part of them. There is a good reason that the more civilized Middle East countries stay out of it and refuse to take in refugees.

The odds of us "making Syria safe" are slim to none. The whole middle east is volatile. Look at how well making Iraq and Afghanistan "safer" has gone. It hasn't. The people of these countries have no desire to change and as previously stated, if Assad is removed from presidency, someone just as bad if not worse will take his place. Don't get me wrong, as a service member myself I will always support what the President is doing but just don't get your hopes up of anything changing.
