When I had my mare fitted for her Crown C the wife of the couple promoting the saddles said she thought the 5 stars were the best quality saddle pads here in North America.

Rockyroad - 2014-04-04 10:43 AM You guys kill me!!   I hope they come back out w/the "colored" ones ... they've added alot more options so hoping this happens too!

For the OP, it's in the composition of the pads that makes 5 Star so much nicer, softer, & the highest compression/concussion rating of them all.  Many wool pads are advertised as "100% wool" but they are not.  They are made of a percentage of virgin wool (I am talking the pressed wool felt, not the needled - they are a whole different ball game - Diamond & Best Ever have these & they are much cheaper to make & alot less wool).  The typical virgin wool content (like on Slones, Wrights, etc) is 55% - then they have a small percentage of reworked (used) wool & the balance is any other fibers.  5 Star used to be 92% virgin & 8% reworked but now are truely 100%.  And that raises the pricing.  I am 5 Star's designated BHW dealer, & I give BB's a discount, plus we run sales often (the Tax Refund sale is going on now until end of April).  We have a FB page also.  My niece is on here (Foster's Fancy) & she works for me too.  We'd love to help you if you are interested!

Val, we'll find you a blue one eventually!  SEEEEEE, you should have listened to me about the colored ones!  LOL
I hate getting an "I told you so".  Did you all notice I switched my font color to "Blue"?

Oh man, your not sitting at home right now in your royal blue shirt are you?

I REALLY need a red one! I have two black ones with silver stitching but I have a dark gray gelding that would be even more gorgeous in a red one! So Rockyroad lemme know when they bring those out again please

My shirt is so desperate I'd make any thickness work!  7/8 would be best.

Hey LRQHS Im sure where you live but there is a tack store here that has them. And on certain days if you dig to the very very back of the pile of a gazzilion pads you'll find the mother load.

I got my 5 star for $125.00 + tax.

I LOVE it. It is so soft and pliable unlike the other wool pads. Normally a new pad takes me a breaking in period. It rolls, and sticks out weird. But not this pad!! From day one it was like old faithful :)

I got green 5 star. Rocky road got it shipped to right before we went to the black hills trail riding. The new green pad and a a very sweat horse made for a green colored back horse where the pad sat. It was funny looking as I ride a buckskin.
