| Can someone please verify if this horse was returned or not? A friend of mine who lives on the New Mexico/Arizona boarder told me she called the AZ brand inspector for the area and as of yesterday the horse had not been located yet. I see the add is still circling the horse community on facebook and I want to let everyone know the horse is safe but I don't want to give out false info. |

| As far as I know, the horse has not been returned.
Please keep an eye out. This is an ugly situation but a child misses her horse.

Horse is HIDDEN.
Thanks for the update!
This is a terrible situation all the way around. I have never understood why thieves target high school and junior rodeos. A friend of mine had his horse stolen from a high school rodeo in California. The horse (as well as 3 others) was recovered in Oregon 2 years later in good health after the thief's girl friend turned him in.
I will continue to pass the word. |

This does NOT sound like just a case of a "thief" taking the horse.....more to the story????? |

Nope, that's the whole story. He put the horse away in the evening and came back to feed the next morning and the horse was gone. There was no insurance on the horse either and the family had bought a replacement in the mean time.
The horse was solid red, no white any where and was a hell of a rope and pick up horse. I don't know what the other horses were. This happened in 1993 or '94. |

I agree.... and it makes me wonder...why would you lock your horses stall with a pad lock? isn't that quite dangerous? What if there was a fire? I don't think locking a horses stall is a smart decision. Obviously that shows there is possibly more to the story |

If we have to stall in open type pens with covers I padlock. Too many times people have moved horses or taken them off the grounds. In other situations I take a look at the facility and weigh the options. In high school and junior rodeo I have seen where horses were drugged. My son was at the recieving end of this at a junior rodeo. Sometimes when parents are living thru their kids, things can and have been taken too far. I prefer my horses stand tied to the trailer with my dog watching them. That is the only time I really get any sleep while on the road. Call me paranoid but after 40 years of showing and rodeoing I have seen more than I care to have seen. you would be surprised what show management can and will sweep under the rug. |

| We padlock, chain, etc everything! Trailer, stalls, outdoor pens. now days nothing is safe. There is so much commotion, traffic, noise at a rodeo that one can easily take a horse and no one notice. |

| I dont think just because the stall was pad locked that anyone can jump to a conclusion that there is more to the story. The negativity on this board is getting really old.
When i stall i always put a pad lock on the stall, especially if there is a certain girl there that i dont trust. |
