daisycake123 - 2014-03-29 7:00 AM I own a auto parts store and shop and had customer with a 6.0 die in my parking lot. I have a customer who works for virginia power and they use all ford products. Tye 7.3, 6.0 and the 6.7 this man has worked on them all they had so much trouble he told me that they are starting to use dodge ram and have not had nowhere near the problem with them. I am a die hard dodge cummings person. If i where to buy a new one would spend the money to take the emmission junk off the truck and u would void warranty but you would be wqy better off.

If you were a diehard Dodge person then you would know its a Cummins, not Cummings. As far as someone saying they are having problems with the 7.3 and 6.7... Please let me know their name so I can never have them work on my trucks. The 7.3 is a workhorse... I don't even think Dodge people can deny that.

Im a big girl and can say that Cummins makes a dang good engine. I just hate the way Dodges look and drive. Plus they are loud. I think the Chevys are good looking and the Duramax has a good rep, plus they have the Allison tranny.

Like all things, please only take advice and opinions from someone who has experience and not someone who says "x brand all the way". They each have pros and cons.

Per Real World Experience, the Dodge Bodies fall apart before Ford Bodies. IE Dodge Dashboard that disintegrate.....................
Don't get me wrong, the Cummins is an EXCELLENT Powerplant and The Allison Transmission has proven itself as well, but the Package this combo is presented in is of low quality. I personally see more 'Old' Ford Diesels in my travels than I do 'Old' Dodge Diesels. And I do believe that when History is examined, that more Fords will be on the road than Dodges or Chevrolets.

From first hand experience, The Accessories on a Powerstroke will stroke out before the Powerstroke.
I have driven Fords all my life (and I am two days older 'n dirt) and Powerstrokes for the last twenty years, so, I believe I am qualified to speak on this subject.

I was talking more along lines of a Dodge vs. Chevy vs. Ford battle royale being passed off as "tests". LOL. And I would have to agree with seeing more Fords on the road, with Chevy being second and Dodge being third. But, I think you have to also acknowledge the fact that Ford trucks (not just the F150) were real best sellers. That has to skew those findings a little bit.

I rarely ever see the old Dodges around. Come to think of it, I rarely see new Dodges, but that could simply be a regional thing.

I can't tell you how many Ford vs. Dodge, Dodge vs. Chevy etc. videos I've seen on Youtube that are filmed on the backroads and in backyards of 'Muricans. Those are not tests, they're stupid and don't prove anything (other than the fact that their owners have too much money and time on their hands). LOL

Just a note; my husband works on the North Slope of Alaska. They get all three of these trucks as fleet trucks. He has worked up there for over 15 years. Dodge beats the other two hands down. His company is going to only Dodge. Those are about the hardest conditions that these trucks can be worked under. Ford pukes out before the other two, every time. No offense.

Haven't read this thread nor will I pretend to know enough about motors to contribute anything of relevance. However......

I am lucky and unlucky enough to own an F350 6 liter. All the regular **** that'll run your pocket book dry keepin that truck on the road has happened. But even running on a couple injectors that beast never let me sit. And when she's running good, the power is like no other.

But the one thing I can say about being a proud owner of a FORD vehicle, and not just my truck, is that NO ONE has had to pay out of their pocket for me to actually own it.

I don't care if Chevrolet makes a vehicle that can fly, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot flippen pole. I prefer my vehicles "federal government baleout free." It's a matter of principle sometimes.

And I was Pro Ford before the baleout, now it just makes it easier to like them.

And to all you chevy owners, your welcome. Not exactly what I wanted to spend my tax dollars on, but then again, that's not my choice.

Dodge, well they make one heck of a truck. But when the body rattles apart on you, that gets annoying. And they don't heat or cool worth a crap after a few years.

Did you even read my post? I gave props to both Cummins and Duramax and you respond with this. Seriously?

Yikes, I'm done with this thread. It's just as bad as a tie down or clone thread. Bunch of mud slinging.

OP - in my original post, I still suggesting drive BOTH brands, if those are the only two you are interested in, and making your decision there. No matter what people are saying, they are comparable. If they weren't there would be a monopoly, which would be very, very bad.

My personal experiences with the old 6.0 powerstroke in 3 different trucks was a nightmare and I love Fords in general, but I just evolved to the point where I decided it was time to try something else, even if Ford's new engine is a much better. That, plus I was able to get a much better deal on trade with the dodge dealer versus ford.
I think arguing about pickups is like arguing about cigars. I lurk and learn, but they all have pros and cons. Unfortunately for me, I ended up dealing with more cons selling Fords than pros.

It's not a truck but we have a Dodge Grand Caravan and it's a piece of junk. It is an 08 that hardly gets used and is stored in the garage. It's a wheelchair van for my dad and MAYBE has 22,000 km of all hwy. We get recalls up the wazoo and have had to fix a number of things. I agree that the dashboard will fall apart. The entire inside is cheap. And if you saw the van you would think it was brand new from the outside. My dad babies it.... it also has some of the most UNCOMFORTABLE seats.

I'm a ford girl. I know of several trucks in the family that get the crap worked out of them and are still going strong. If you saw what they go through in a summer... Mine will be a ford when I get it.

I have to disagree with some of your information,

The heating and cooling

My father has a 1992, 1996, 1998 all with over 500k on them these trucks have worked in the oil patch been run hard, pulled hard, they still produce awesome heat, the ac works wonderful, but as any vehicle the ac needs to be recharged.

As for the interior, all dashboards are intact not a crack, I have actually never seen a poor dashboard. The seats have broken down, but that is it. I live where 40 below can be normal.

I have a 2006 I have no problem with the interior, the heat and ac work perfect.

My family has been dodge since dirt as you can't beat the cummins engine.

Also ford did take bailout money, atleast they did in Canada.

Note: Ford did not take "Federal Bail Out Money" in The U.S. However, Chrysler which is Dodge Corporate Parent has been "bailed out" by U.S. Taxpayers at least twice. Once in the late '80s when Lee Iacocca left Ford to head Chrysler's Restructure and later in 07-08 or and is currently owned primarily owned by Fiat an Italian Automaker................
Chevrolet has actually repaid their Federal Bailout Money.

And ask Dodge Owners in Texas and other Southern States (hot!) about their dashboards.....................

When I can catch myself (just today) going 90 mph in a  30+ mph head wind with a loaded 5 horse in my Ford, I think it has plenty of power to do whatever I want it to......  Nuff said.  Although my mileage went in the toilet.....

And it's NOT a 6.0......  I would have been going backwards in that wind in the 6.0 I had.

I have yet to have a dodge pass me that I didn't want to pass me.

My dad worked for the government for 30 years they used dodge trucks gas teucks and they lasted forever, i had a first generation for diesel 6.9 it stayed at the dealers they put 2 transmissions in it and at 50k that trans was staeting to,slip we sold it and got out of it. I dont know i never said anything about the 7.3s they are good trucks the powerstrokes are good trucks also. The 6.0 are good trucks too if yiu do a bunch of stuff to,them. One of my customers work for virginia powers they have tons of trucks, theymgot tired of fixing the fords, went with dodges and he said he has not had any problems with dodges and thye started changing over 3 years ago. Not talking about the body, the wheels, or anytning other than motor. He said the dodges are great no problems, they use as a work truck.

LOL! I didn't say it was a sustained 90......  I had to set the cruise at 75. My point is it will run away if I'm not watching my speed......  SHEESH!

We all know what a truck will get for mileage driving loaded at 90 in a head wind. Any truck will get single digits......  (Nobody try to convince me your Dodge will get better than that because I've pulled the same trailer with a Dodge and it was the same..... ) Just sayin'.
