APHA finally tallied the Barrel Points for the year end champions. As you can see the small number of points tells you that the participation at APHA was very minimal and 75% of the champions have Halter and Western Pleasure pedigrees .... so ... I figure they were fill the book entries and lucked out and won the barrel racing at various shows due to low turn out. No times given ...

APHA site is acting like the Obamacare site so if you want the email I received just PM me your email and I will forward it to you ... this is for the barrel champions ...

Page 83 of APHA 2013 RULE BOOK shows the points accrued for the number in the event .... will try to copy and past the page ... will not copy so here is the link ... index page is incorrect ... points are really on page 85 of the rule book ... lol ..

APHA shows a few pictures but do not identify who the horse or rider is ... duhhh

HAVE FUN AND KEEP SMILING ...

"Real Barrel Racers" are not going to subject their horses and themselves to the terrible ground conditions at the APHA shows not to mention, no payout, no entries other than WP horses and a lack of respect for a horse that can do something besides look lame and half dead.

When I was going to the local APHA show, it was a joke.

Go to the PBRIP website and locate the listing of all the horses getting qualified there. See results tab. PBRIP is growing rapidly and hopefully will bring more to the World Show class entries. Great job PBRIP!!

As for local shows, the local club members need to address ground, etc. just as we do at jackpots.

We can now use PBRIP and do sidepots at our races that we already attend if that is something you are interested in.

I have a Solid Paint Gelding that is a 1D local/2D big show dude. We went to the APHA World Show, and they only allowed us to run against the other horses who had no spots (which there was a grand total of 5 of us). 15 minutes before I ran, they took my horses bit and taped the whole thing together so it was one big stick in his mouth. Needless to say we got 5th.... my automatic horse ran up the fence because of their stupid rules. And old guy in a roping saddle who loped the pattern was the "grand champion"..

Okay, thats all i have to say about APHA. Rant over.

You competed in 2013?

There are bit regulations. There are also judges that are available for your bit to be checked to see if its legal or not - day before or at least hours before competing so you can change it yourself. I have seen people that do not get their equipment checked and wait til they are getting ready to run have to do 'something' to make it not severe or make it as legal as possible so they dont get DQ'd.

The bit regulations have been gone over and are more lenient now.

The first time I ever went I had someone telling me what to do in order to make it a fun experience. Had I not asked for direction from someone that had been there and done that I would have been so lost. Once you do it, you know what to do yourself and it is alot of fun.

Posting from phone ice storm no electricity. Barrel horse invade you did not catch this. My nice big paint horse was red champ in poles. When the results were put up on the internet my horse was not even listed in the class. How do you leave out the res champ. I was sitting by the judges and one said what are we looking for here. This is the world and this judge has never worked a speed class? Wow. We might have stayed for the sweepstakes if it had been a true 4d but the majority of the money went to the top ten horses so if you won the 5d you got very little and all horses should run together. On the bit, we had to have our bit inspected when we checked in the day before. If you did not that is your fault Their rules are very specific. My horse had to run on drugs and I checked the legal ones way before we got to the show.
