I may have an opportunity to take photos for a local realtor of houses he is selling for his websites/advertising.  I have no idea what to charge.  Are any of you photographers or have any experience with this?  I live in a small community so I know I can't charge what they would in a larger city.  It may involve some driving to other small communities in the area but probably not more than 1 hour in any direction.  Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you think $50 per location is unfair?

Search real estate photography

Do you have the skills to keep rooms and buildings in perspective and square. What about off camera lighting for low lit rooms?

It will take time to learn how to do it correctly. I think they also have a certain lens they prefer fot it. I have read articles on it, it's a lot more than standing there snapping a picture

Good luck with it

I did some photography work for an ag leadership group and charged $100 an hour. It was photos of their group, candids and shots of their fundraising auction. More of a photojournalism type of thing. It ended up being a donation type of thing, so I didn't get paid in cash..

I second what someone else said about keeping the rooms in proportion. I'd research real estate photography and look at photography forums for information on lenses and angles, etc.

Could be worth a shot just for experience and the extra cash. I'd do more reasearch before quoting a price or agreeing to anything.

I have been doing some research on it and have read some really good articles.  I kind of have a game plan but the money part is tricky for me.  I have a good eye for photography even though I have had no real formal training.  I just never have any idea what to charge.  I have done Senior pictures for my kids and for friends, I did some property shots for a friend who was selling their house on their own, etc.   I just never know what to charge for any of it.  The money aspect just makes me uncomfortable...

Price also depends on usuage. One time or are you giving extened use and/or relingising your copyright to them. You need a specific contract stating the terms.

Will you be color correcting, straightening, sharpening and enhancing in photoshop? That needs to be figured into the price
